About us
Kate's Tutoring is a boutique tutoring agency that matches students with exceptional tutors for one-on-one online instruction.
We're seeking experienced, adaptable tutors who are comfortable teaching across multiple middle and high school subjects and can build lasting relationships with students as their academic needs evolve.
And we're so excited to meet you!
You can apply directly via our website: https://www.katestutoring.com/job-application
What you'd teach
- Usually middle school to high school students
- Best candidates can teach multiple subjects and all sections of standardized tests
- Comfortable working with students and building rapport quickly
- Test prep (ACT/SAT, ISEE/SSAT), all sections
- Science + math courses through AP levels.
This role requires breadth. If you exclusively teach a single subject (for example, only English or only History) or specialize primarily in early childhood education, this is probably not the best fit.
The ideal candidate will not just know the SAT & ACT and be able to communicate tips, tricks, and review materials to students, but will also be adept at tutoring middle and high schoolers in academic subjects like MATH, HISTORY, ENGLISH, and SCIENCE.
Our strongest tutors are academic generalists. Students often stay with us for years, and their needs evolve over time. The ideal tutor is comfortable supporting students across multiple subjects rather than a single specialty.
Availability We're Looking For
- Weekends (especially Saturdays)
- General flexibility across weekday evenings (3pm-8pm Pacific)
- Consistency matters!
Who does well with our families
- Adapt their teaching style to the student in front of them rather than using the same approach with everyone.
- Build rapport quickly and make students feel comfortable asking questions.
- Communicate proactively and professionally.
- Are dependable and manage their schedules independently.
- Stay calm when students are struggling and enjoy figuring out what helps each learner succeed.
LOGISTICS
You can work from home, wherever you are, though our students do tend to be Pacific Time and will need "after school" hours, which means 2-8pm and weekends. It's okay if you aren't in our time zone, but keep that in mind!
This is an independent contractor (1099) position. Tutors have the flexibility to accept or decline student opportunities and maintain their own tutoring businesses and clients.
Our tutors are independent professionals. The tutors who thrive here enjoy managing their own schedules, communicating proactively, and building long-term relationships with students and families.
