Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer specializing in CNC programming to join our innovative manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for various machining centers, including CNC lathes and milling machines. Your expertise will drive efficiency, precision, and quality in our production processes. You will collaborate closely with design and production teams to translate engineering drawings and schematics into accurate machine instructions, ensuring seamless manufacturing operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-precision manufacturing environments using advanced CAD/CAM software and lean manufacturing principles.
Duties
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for machining centers such as CNC lathes and milling machines using CAM programming tools like Fanuc controls.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints, applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to ensure precise machining.
- Utilize CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and CATIA to create or modify part models and tooling designs.
- Set up and calibrate CNC machines, including electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment, ensuring accurate tool paths and machine parameters.
- Conduct tooling selection and setup, including bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on CNC equipment while troubleshooting issues related to geometry, schematics, or mechanical components.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to perform inspections using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and other precision instruments to verify part accuracy.
- Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, tooling configurations, and process improvements for continuous enhancement.
Experience
- Proven experience in CNC programming with a strong understanding of Fanuc controls or similar systems.
- Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent for designing parts and generating machining instructions.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining operations on CNC lathe and milling machines as well as electrical discharge machining (EDM).
- Familiarity with blueprint reading and schematics interpretation aligned with GD&T standards.
- Mechanical knowledge of tooling setup, geometry considerations, and the use of precision measuring instruments like bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, micrometers, bore gauges.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency within a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to read schematics and electrical diagrams related to machine operation and maintenance.
- Strong math skills for calculating tool paths, tolerances, and machining parameters necessary for high-precision parts. Join us in shaping the future of manufacturing by leveraging your technical expertise in CNC programming! We value innovation-driven professionals who thrive in collaborative environments focused on quality excellence and continuous improvement.
