Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems of semi-trucks.
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, air brake inspections, wheel alignments, shocks & struts replacement, and general vehicle upkeep.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, excavators, cranes, and other industrial machinery safely during repair or fabrication tasks.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding and hand tools to ensure proper fit and function.
- Inspect vehicles thoroughly to identify potential problems early and prevent breakdowns; perform preventive maintenance accordingly.
- Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and inspection logs to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic with dealership or heavy equipment shop background preferred.
- Strong knowledge of heavy truck systems including engines, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and vehicle electrical systems.
- Skilled in automotive diagnostics, using schematics and electronic testing tools to identify issues accurately.
- Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation such as forklifts, excavators, cranes, or farm machinery is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and other maintenance instruments.
- Ability to lift heavy components safely during repairs or replacements; physically fit for demanding tasks involving heavy lifting.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on clear communication and teamwork in service technician roles.
