Position Overview
Working under clinical leadership, the Substance Use Counselor will provide comprehensive counseling and case management services to individuals receiving treatment for opioid use disorder. This role is central to patient engagement, treatment planning, monitoring progress, and ensuring continuity of care.
We are primarily seeking CASAC professionals with vocational experience in substance use treatment, particularly within opioid programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed intake assessments, including psychosocial evaluations
- Develop individualized treatment plans in partnership with patients and the interdisciplinary care team
- Provide individual counseling focused on substance use recovery and relapse prevention
- Facilitate ongoing program orientation and patient education
- Monitor substance use through supervised toxicology screening procedures
- Deliver case management services, including discharge planning and referrals to community-based health and human service agencies
- Collaborate closely with nursing, medical, and clinical staff to support patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active CASAC certification
- Experience in substance use disorder treatment
- Experience in an opioid treatment program strongly preferred
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a structured, fast-paced clinical environment
