The North Adams Public Schools is seeking a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year.Job Goal: To support students in reducing or eliminating speech disabilities that interfere with their ability to fully access and benefit from the educational program, under the supervision of a certified and licensed Speech/Language Pathologist.Supervision: Reports to the Speech and Language Pathologist and the Director of Student Support Services.Description: The speech-language pathologist assistant is accountable for providing therapeutic services to students with speech and language disorders consistent with the policies of the North Adams Public Schools, in compliance with state and federal special education regulations, and with supervision from a licensed speech-language pathologist. Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), the SLPA will: Implement speech and language therapy activities, strategies, and interventions as directed by the supervising SLPProvide individual and small group therapy services to studentsSupport development of articulation, language comprehension, expressive language, fluency, and social communication skillsAssist in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior support strategiesMonitor, collect, and record student performance data and progressMaintain accurate and timely documentation, including Medicaid billing requirements where applicableCollaborate regularly with the supervising SLP and school staff regarding student progress and programmingPrepare and organize therapy materials, equipment, and activitiesAssist in scheduling therapy sessions and maintaining service delivery logsMaintain organized and confidential student records in compliance with state and federal regulationsParticipate in meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as requiredOperate instructional and office technology, including relevant software systemsMaintain working knowledge of Massachusetts special education laws, regulations, and SLPA scope of practiceDemonstrate effective time management and organization of caseload responsibilitiesPerform additional duties as assigned by the supervising SLP or administrationSpecial Knowledge/Abilities for Position: Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment and machines. Ability to work well with numerous departments and agencies.
