POSITION SUMMARY
Nickey Kehoe is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to support our Furniture Buying Team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about furniture and design.
The Assistant Buyer plays an essential role in bringing our collections to life, from managing purchase orders and vendor communication to coordinating product launches, maintaining assortment data, and supporting merchandising strategy. This position works closely with vendors and cross-functional teams including Creative, E-commerce, Operations, Accounting, and our retail showrooms to ensure products move seamlessly from development through launch and replenishment.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Purchasing & Vendor Management
- Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders throughout the product life cycle.
- Monitor production timelines, lead times, and shipment schedules to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate with domestic and international vendor partners on order status, pricing, product availability, and logistics.
- Maintain accurate costing, pricing, and product information across internal systems.
- Resolve routine order issues and proactively communicate updates to internal stakeholders.
Product Development & Assortment Management
- Coordinate product development timelines, sample requests, and approval processes.
- Maintain assortment plans, product line lists, and merchandising documentation.
- Support new product introductions and assortment expansions by organizing product information and tracking development milestones..
Product Launch & Merchandising Support
- Prepare product information for launches, including specifications, pricing, imagery, and merchandising assets.
- Partner with Creative and E-commerce teams to ensure products are launch-ready across all customer touchpoints.
- Coordinate photography samples and maintain product asset organization.
- Help maintain accurate product data across internal databases and systems.
Reporting & Business Analysis
- Assist with assortment performance analysis, margin tracking, and inventory management.
- Support buying decisions through data collection, reporting, and ongoing business insights.
Administrative & Team Support
- Maintain organized documentation, calendars, and project timelines.
- Prepare materials for vendor meetings, assortment reviews, and seasonal planning.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication to keep projects moving efficiently.
- Support the buying team with day-to-day operational needs and special projects.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by the Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES:
- 2–5 years of experience in buying, merchandising, product development, retail planning, or a related field.
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Google Sheets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working collaboratively across multiple departments and with external vendor partners.
- Passion for interiors, furniture, craftsmanship, and design.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to build a career in merchandising and buying.

The base salary range for this position is $31 - $35/hour. Actual compensation within this range will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, prior experience, and skill set.
