American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Special Care Nursery (Level 2E NICU) position at a Magnet-designated hospital in Barrington, IL, requiring active IL RN licensure and NRP certification.

Special Care Nursery (Level 2E NICU) at a 176-bed Magnet-designated hospital
-
Neonatal patient population: 32 weeks gestation and above
-
Patient ratio of 1:1–3 based on acuity, both day and night shifts
-
Specialized skills required: baby stabilization for 32+ weeks gestation and preparation of sub-32-week newborns for transport
-
12-hour shifts rotating between 7a–7p and 7p–7a (not in the same week), 36 hours per week
-
Uses Epic EMR, Alaris, Pyxis, and Bridge access system for donor and breast milk administration

Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
-
On-call requirements vary based on unit need

Holiday coverage required as needed

Floating to L&D and Mother/Baby units based on skillset

Active IL RN license required
-
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP

Minimum 12 months of NICU or Special Care Nursery experience, with most recent experience within the last year

2 years of experience preferred

Epic EMR experience required

One professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the last year
-
Candidate must provide middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN for consideration
-
Perform stabilization and transport preparation for neonates, including sub-32-week gestation newborns when needed
-
Unit support includes a charge nurse (may hold patient assignment), 24/7 receptionist on MBU, pediatric hospitalist, daily neonatologist rounds, on-call OB, and phlebotomy assistance

Orientation includes at least one unit shift to learn workflow

Hospital scrubs are provided at no cost; parking is free

Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restrictions

First-time travelers are considered on a case-by-case basis

Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
