RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food handling practices
Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience
Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling or piercing with utensils
Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment
Portion, arrange and garnish food and serve to patrons
Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters
Substitute or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods
Wash, peel, cut and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare for consumption
Estimate expected food consumptio
Bake breads, rolls, cakes and pastries
Prepare relishes and hors d’oeuvres
Clean food preparation areas
Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards
Other duties as requested/assigned
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum of 1 year experience in food service industry
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Food Handler's License (or Food Handler's Card/Certificate) prior to start date; maintenance of current certification required throughout employment
Must possess a valid, current Colorado Driver's License with a driving record in good standing and in compliance with Company policy; valid personal automobile insurance must be maintained throughout employment
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers
Basic computer skills to include sending and receiving emails
Working knowledge of large-quantity meal preparation, menu planning, and routine reporting to the Head Chef required
Position may require driving between day center locations to transport meals or other items
Must be flexible to rotate across Explorer, Pikes Peak, and Quail Lake Day Center locations; all shifts originate and conclude at Pikes Peak
