Entry-Level Welder / Fabrication Shop Associate

United Aggregates is seeking a dependable, motivated individual to join our fabrication shop as an Entry-Level Welder / Fabrication Shop Associate. Some welding or fabrication experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are willing to provide hands-on training for the right candidate—someone who brings a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
This position works closely with an experienced team to fabricate, repair, and maintain equipment and components used throughout our aggregate mining and wash plant operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with welding, cutting, fitting, grinding, and general metal fabrication
- Learn to read measurements, drawings, and basic fabrication plans
- Help repair and maintain plant components, equipment, guards, chutes, and structural materials
- Safely operate welding and fabrication tools after completing required training
- Inspect completed work for quality and accuracy
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Assist other team members with shop and field projects as needed
- Follow all company safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment
- Travel to other company work sites when needed; company transportation will be provided
Work Environment and Schedule
This position includes both indoor and outdoor work in and around an active aggregate mine and wash plant. Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, changing weather conditions, uneven surfaces, and moving equipment.
The general work schedule is 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Overtime may be required based on operational demands, repair needs, and the work environment.
Qualifications
- Some welding (MIG/Stick), fabrication, mechanical, vocational, or shop experience is helpful but not required
- Willingness and ability to learn welding and fabrication techniques
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation to the Mount Vernon work location
- Positive, team-oriented attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and accept coaching
- Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in an active industrial environment
- Ability to safely lift, carry, bend, climb, stand, and perform physical work throughout the shift
- Valid driver’s license preferred due to occasional travel between company work sites
Safety and PPE
Safety is a top priority at United Aggregates. All associates are expected to follow established safety procedures, remain aware of their surroundings, and immediately report unsafe conditions.
Standard personal protective equipment will be provided. Associates are required to supply and wear approved steel-toe or composite-toe work boots. An annual reimbursement toward qualifying work boots is available following successful completion of the probationary period.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
