The Controller will be a pivotal leader within our finance and accounting team, responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring the integrity of financial data, and providing timely, accurate financial reporting. This role is critical in supporting our accelerated growth trajectory, implementing robust internal controls, and optimizing financial processes to drive operational efficiency and value creation.

Oversee all general ledger activities, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.

Ensure proper revenue recognition, expense tracking, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Manage cash flow, including daily monitoring, forecasting, and working capital management.

Manage and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP standards.

Prepare comprehensive financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and develop supporting schedules for internal management and external reporting to private equity sponsors.

Collaborate with each of the FP&A and procurement/share services teams to provide insightful analysis of financial performance against budget, forecasts, and KPIs.

Assist in preparation and refreshing internal budgets and forecasts.

Assist in preparing presentations and ad-hoc financial analysis as required by leadership and investors.

Provide leadership and direction to the Finance teams and model GrayMar values.

Ensure each employee is prepared and educated in safe work practices.

Develop, coach, train, and promote employees. Provide ongoing feedback and motivation, including performance goals.

Assist with planning and implementation of NetSuite ERP (targeting go-live 1/1/2026)

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in accounting processes, efficiency, and automation.

Drive the optimization and effective utilization of the ERP system and other financial tools.

Support the integration of accounting processes for potential future acquisitions.

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and professional growth.

Promote cross-functional collaboration and strong communication within the accounting department and across the organization.

Strong technical accounting skills with a deep understanding of GAAP.

Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite highly valued) and advanced Excel modeling.

Proficiency in developing and maintaining top-of-class close documentation.

Proven ability to establish and maintain robust internal controls.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively interacting with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership and external stakeholders.

Proactive, hands-on, and results-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.

CPA designation strongly preferred.

Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years in a Controller role.

Prior experience in a private equity-backed company is highly preferred, demonstrating an understanding of rapid growth environments, demanding reporting requirements, and value creation initiatives.

Experience in improving close timeline highly valued.
