Position Summary
RDS Machine is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to support precision manufacturing and inspection operations. This position develops, edits, and maintains CMM programs used to verify that machined parts meet blueprint, customer, and quality requirements.
The CMM Programmer works closely with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing to create efficient inspection methods, support production schedules, analyze measurement data, and train employees on approved CMM programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, edit, troubleshoot, and maintain CMM programs using Calypso software.
- Set up and operate CMM equipment and verify program accuracy and repeatability.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Develop inspection plans and measurement strategies for new and existing parts.
- Maintain an organized library of approved CMM programs and inspection documentation.
- Collect and report dimensional, statistical, capability, and measurement-system data.
- Support first-piece, in-process, final, and investigative inspections.
- Train operators, inspectors, and supervisors on approved CMM programs.
- Troubleshoot programs, probes, fixtures, software, and measurement concerns.
- Coordinate calibration, preventive maintenance, repairs, and routine equipment care.
- Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions related to dimensional issues.
- Follow all applicable quality, safety, ISO, and standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three years of experience in CMM programming, mechanical inspection, or precision manufacturing quality.
- Hands-on experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines.
- Proficiency with Calypso CMM programming software.
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment and interpreting dimensional data.
- Strong computer, math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, defense, medical, or another regulated manufacturing industry.
- Experience inspecting complex precision-machined components.
- Experience with SPC, capability studies, or measurement system analysis.
