A Civil Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to specifications.

Superintendent Job Duties
Project Management
- Manage daily construction activities on job sites.
- Coordinate crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment.
- Review project plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Plan work activities to meet production goals.
- Monitor project progress and adjust schedules as needed.
Safety
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and job hazard analyses.
- Perform regular site safety inspections.
- Investigate and document incidents and near misses.
- Ensure all employees use proper PPE.
Quality Control
- Ensure work meets project specifications and quality standards.
- Perform inspections throughout each phase of construction.
- Coordinate with inspectors, engineers, and owners.
- Identify and correct deficiencies promptly.
Crew Leadership
- Supervise foremen, operators, laborers, and subcontractors.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor productivity.
- Train and mentor field personnel.
- Promote teamwork and maintain a positive work environment.
Scheduling & Planning
- Develop short-term and long-term work plans.
- Coordinate material deliveries and equipment needs.
- Anticipate project challenges and implement solutions.
- Minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
Communication
- Serve as the primary field contact for project managers, clients, inspectors, and engineers.
- Attend project meetings.
- Provide daily reports on production, manpower, equipment, weather, and delays.
Documentation
- Complete daily job reports.
- Track labor, equipment, and material usage.
- Document change orders and extra work.
- Maintain project documentation and field records.
- Communicate schedule changes and project updates.
Equipment & Materials
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and utilized.
- Coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Verify materials meet project specifications.
- Manage inventory and prevent material waste.
Budget & Cost Control
- Monitor labor and equipment costs.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity.
- Reduce rework and unnecessary expenses.
- Assist with forecasting project costs.
Typical Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of civil construction experience.
- Experience with concrete, grading, utilities, paving, or flatwork.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and civil plans.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
- Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus).
- Proficiency with construction software (such as Procore, HCSS, or Microsoft Office) is beneficial.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
