Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated PRN Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This is a per-visit position. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a hospice setting, ensuring comfort and dignity during end-of-life care. This role requires a strong understanding of patient needs, effective communication with families, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.
Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care to patients in accordance with established hospice protocols and individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation of all treatments.
- Conduct assessments of patients’ physical and emotional conditions, monitoring changes and reporting findings to the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and families on care plans, medication management, and coping strategies.
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems.
- Offer emotional support to families during difficult times, facilitating family planning discussions when necessary.
- Participate in continuous education and training to stay current on best practices in hospice care.
Requirements
- Valid RN nursing license in the state of practice.
- CPR
- Experience in outpatient settings or acute care environments preferred.
- Proficiency in administering medications and managing complex patient needs.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to patient care in hospice settings.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
