Champi NJ is a first-of-its-kind wellness and beauty destination launching soon in the heart of Metuchen, New Jersey. Inspired by the ancient Indian practice of Champi – a therapeutic head massage tradition that has been practiced for centuries and gave rise to the English word “Shampoo” – we are bringing a unique scalp and hair wellness concept to New Jersey.
Our services combine traditional Indian head massage techniques, nourishing hair oils, scalp focused therapies, and professional hair care and styling to create a holistic experience that promotes relaxation, stress relief, scalp health, and healthy hair growth. Job Summary
We are seeking talented, passionate Hair Cosmetologists with strong technical skills and a genuine interest in scalp / hair health and relaxation. The ideal candidate excels at classic and contemporary hair services while delivering exceptional scalp massage treatments to enhance the client experience, promote hair growth, relieve tension, and address common scalp concerns.
Key Responsibilities
· Consult with clients to understand their hair goals, lifestyle, and any scalp-related concerns (dryness, oiliness, sensitivity, dandruff, thinning, etc.)
· Perform professional relaxing and therapeutic scalp massages pre shampoo services, using hands and fingers
· Perform hair oil / hair mask based scalp massages to improve scalp health and hair condition
· Shampoo, condition, and style hair
· Recommend and retail appropriate professional hair care products, scalp serums, and at-home maintenance routines
· Maintain a clean, sanitary workstation and follow all state sanitation and safety regulations
· Stay current on scalp wellness, hair health and styling innovations and massage modalities through continuing education
· Build long-term client relationships through excellent service, follow-ups, and rebooking
· Assist with salon opening/closing duties and general upkeep as needed
Requirements & Qualifications
· Active New Jersey Cosmetology license (required)
· 1–2 years of hair styling experience preferred (open to strong recent graduates)
· Ability to work with diverse hair types and textures
· Experience or interest in scalp massage/ head spa techniques is a plus
· Strong customer service and communication skills with a calm, professional approach
· Knowledge of professional hair care products is an advantage
· Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented mindset
· Willingness to learn product recommendations and retail sales
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)
· Experience with head, neck and shoulders relaxation massage techniques
· Comfortable using social media to showcase work
· Bilingual abilities are a plus

Compensation and Benefits
