Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using safe handling practices and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support patient mobility and transfer needs, ensuring safety during movement with proper techniques and equipment.
- Provide basic nursing care such as catheter care, wound observation, and medication reminders under supervision.
- Document patient information thoroughly in medical documentation systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy.
- Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff or physicians, especially in critical care or emergency medicine environments.
- Assist with specialized care needs including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, behavioral health support, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities.
- Support infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and proper manual handling procedures during patient interactions.
- Help coordinate patient service activities in various settings such as long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), outpatient clinics, or home & community care environments.
Experience
- Prior experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant or in a similar caregiving role within long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU or Level I Trauma Centers), assisted living communities, or home health settings.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation.
- Experience providing specialized care including hospice support, infectious disease management, pediatric or geriatric patient care, and post-acute or sub-acute settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification is required.
- Familiarity with medical-surgical procedures, medication administration protocols, catheter care techniques, and vital signs monitoring is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safe lifting practices; experience with manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts is preferred.
- Strong communication skills for working effectively with multidisciplinary teams and providing excellent patient service across diverse populations including children and seniors.
