This position is for a 2nd grade teacher at Colebrook Elementary. Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total schoolprogram.Responsibilities: Duties of this job include, but are not limited to: Developing and implementing plans for the age-appropriate curriculum with written evidence of preparation required.Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter.
Integrate tech into lessons.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.Uses a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time forinstruction. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learningatmosphere in the classroom. Evaluate students academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progressreports.
Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students progress andinterpret the school program. Identifies student needs, communicates, and cooperates with other professional staff members inassessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletinboards, and interest centers. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professionalgrowth activities.
Participates in cooperative with appropriate administrators to develop the method by which theteacher will be evaluated in conformance with guidelines. Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the state testing program.
Participates in curriculum development programs as required. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities. Plans and uses appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment thatreflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned. Assesses student learning styles and uses results for instructional activities.
Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for specialeducation students. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals,objectives, and methods according to state requirements. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteers(s). Use technologies in the teaching/learning process.
