Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Head of Construction Bidding & Estimating to lead our pre-construction efforts and drive profitable project acquisition. This is a pivotal role focused solely on data centers and distribution centers. It involves managing the entire estimating process for commercial construction projects, ensuring accurate cost projections, competitive pricing, and strategic bid submissions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of construction industry standards, exceptional negotiation skills, and a proven track record of getting results. This is not a back-office estimating role. The right person combines strong technical estimating expertise with executive presence, operational discipline, and a growth mindset. Experience in concrete industry/tilt ups is a major plus.
Duties
- Regularly meet and communicate with general contractors and collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to communicate bid strategies, clarify project scopes, and negotiate contracts effectively.
- Lead and oversee the entire bidding and estimating process for commercial construction projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Review detailed construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to interpret project scope and requirements effectively.
- Manage and coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to gather competitive bids and negotiate terms that maximize value while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor project budgets during the estimating phase to ensure alignment with financial goals; implement cost control measures as needed.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in estimating processes by leveraging spreadsheets, construction industry best practices, and innovative tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Utilize construction management software like Bluebeam and Xactimate to prepare detailed proposals, markup strategies, and bid packages.
Skills
- Demonstrated expertise in negotiating contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Excellent communication skills for client interactions, team collaboration, and presenting bid proposals confidently.
- Extensive experience managing construction estimates for commercial projects.
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documents accurately.
- Deep understanding of construction management software systems for project planning and cost control.
- Proven track record in managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high accuracy in cost estimation.
- Knowledge of construction site operations combined with experience in interpreting technical drawings for precise material requirements estimation.
- Strong grasp of contract management principles including scope definition, risk assessment, and legal considerations related to bidding processes.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
