We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scientist with a strong background in Chemistry to lead our Research & Development Laboratory. This pivotal role will manage the day-to-day operations of the lab, ensuring it serves as a high-efficiency resource for our R&D team. You will be responsible for the direct supervision of Senior and Junior R&D Scientists, bridging the gap between technical chemistry expertise and operational leadership, specifically focusing on moving skin and hair care concepts through to product release.
Core Responsibilities
- Laboratory Operations Management: Oversee all day-to-day R&D lab activities, ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-resourced environment for scientific innovation.
- Team Leadership: Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of Senior and Junior R&D Scientists, fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
- Product Development Oversight: Lead laboratory efforts within the Product Development department for cosmetic products related to skin and hair care, managing the transition of new concepts from the bench to successful product release.
- Concept Product Release Testing: Coordinate and oversee bench testing and concept product release protocols to ensure all prototypes meet internal standards before progressing in the development cycle.
- Documentation & Training: Maintain rigorous oversight of laboratory notebooks, documentation protocols, and training records for the R&D team.
- Supply Chain Management: Manage R&D laboratory supply chains, ensuring consistent availability of reagents, raw materials, and specialized components.
Qualifications & RequirementsEducational Background
- BSc or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Alternatively: Ph.D. in the above disciplines with 4+ years of industry experience.
Professional Experience
- Proven experience in cosmetic formulation.
- 5 to 10+ years of experience working in a relevant laboratory setting, with a primary focus on product development.
- 2 to 5+ years in a laboratory managerial or leadership role is required.
Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of advanced laboratory techniques and chemical analysis methods.
- Strong expertise in translating chemical concepts into stable, market-ready cosmetic formulations.
- Exceptional project management and organizational leadership skills.
Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
