Job Title: Fabrication Supervisor
SUMMARY: The Fabrication Supervisor – 2nd Shift is responsible for leading the second shift Fabrication Department by promoting a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. Supervises and performs operation of metal working machinery to assist in the fabrication of steel products. Ability to operate all CNC equipment including, but not limited, to the laser, press brakes, lathe, mill, and plasma. This position oversees daily production operations, ensures production schedules are achieved, develops employees through coaching and performance management, and supports Lean Manufacturing initiatives while maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and workmanship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:.
- Ensures department meets daily objectives in terms of safety, on-time delivery of job orders, accurate employee documentation of work completed, quality, and physical inventory.
- Conduct performance evaluations and is responsible for discipline of departmental associates.
- Ensures all parts are accounted for and properly processed before moving job orders to the next department.
- Follows block schedule to ensure completion of job orders in a timely fashion.
- Maintains inventory of materials and parts needed to complete production.
- Works with designated Buyer/Planner to coordinate inbound materials with proper tagging and organization of inventory.
- Understands proper set-up or all equipment in the Fabrication department.
- Ensures that all department employees have necessary materials, parts, and tools to work.
- Can operate equipment in a steel fabrication environment in a safe and reasonable manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises employees in the department assigned and carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's procedures. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; addressing complaints and resolving problems, involved on the hiring process for department, and communication with off shift supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, CNC equipment, and production operations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Direct education with degree from two-year college or technical school preferred.
- 2 years related experience and/or training in department assigned.
- Ability to read blue prints and understand geometric tolerances.
- Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Person will have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence. Must communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, vendors, and customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including percentages, ratios, decimals, measurements, and interpret production metrics and charts.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and able to navigate the company's ERP/MRP and timekeeping systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands to operate equipment. Frequently communicates throughout the production floor. Must regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance or appropriate lifting equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Required PPE, including steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and other required PPE, must be worn at all times. Employees are expected to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
