Job Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care to adults and adolescents receiving services in Turning Pointe LLC's 23-Hour Crisis Stabilization Program. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and Medical Director, the LPN monitors physical and behavioral health status, administers medications, assists with medical assessments, documents nursing interventions, responds to psychiatric and medical emergencies, and supports a safe, trauma-informed therapeutic environment while complying with Virginia regulations and agency policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide trauma-informed nursing care to individuals experiencing psychiatric or behavioral health crises.
- Complete nursing assessments within the LPN scope of practice.
- Monitor vital signs, physical health, and changes in mental status.
- Administer medications and maintain accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs).
- Monitor medication effectiveness and adverse reactions.
- Conduct safety observations and assist with crisis de-escalation.
- Monitor chronic medical conditions and withdrawal symptoms.
- Complete timely nursing documentation, incident reports, and discharge documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians, RNs, QMHPs, licensed clinicians, peer specialists, and case managers.
- Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies and initiate CPR/BLS when necessary.
- Maintain infection prevention standards and OSHA compliance.
- Provide education regarding medications, symptom management, wellness, and follow-up care.
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment through routine safety rounds.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing Program.
- Current unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Successful criminal background check and TB screening.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation if required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of nursing experience.
- Behavioral health, crisis stabilization, emergency department, psychiatric nursing, or substance use treatment experience.
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, medication administration, HIPAA, infection control, and Virginia nursing regulations.
- Ability to remain calm in crises, communicate effectively, exercise sound judgment, complete accurate documentation, and work collaboratively.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Assist with client mobility.
- Respond quickly to emergencies.
Work Environment
- Secure behavioral health crisis stabilization setting.
- Shift work including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight coverage.
- Exposure to psychiatric emergencies and potentially aggressive behaviors.
- Shift work available 7-3pm, 3pm-11pm,11pm-7am PRN and negotiable hours
Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
