Resident Services Coordinator (Front Desk & Life Enrichment) Job Description:
Saint Francis – Manchester is a faith-based, non-profit Assisted Living Community located at 65 West Clopton Street, Richmond, Virginia. We are seeking a compassionate, professional, energetic, and customer-focused Resident Services Coordinator to join our team.
This unique position combines the responsibilities of a Front Desk Concierge and Activities Assistant. The Resident Services Coordinator serves as the welcoming face of our community while enriching the lives of our residents through engaging activities, exceptional customer service, and administrative support.

Work Schedule:
Full-Time or Part-Time (24–40 hours per week)
Core hours are generally scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., including weekdays, holidays, and every other weekend, based on community needs.
The Resident Services Coordinator is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while supporting resident engagement, safety, and daily community operations. Responsibilities include greeting residents and visitors, answering phones, coordinating resident services, monitoring safety systems, assisting with life enrichment programming, organizing community events, transporting residents, and performing various administrative duties.
This position plays an essential role in creating a welcoming, safe, and vibrant environment where residents can thrive.
Essential Responsibilities:Resident Services & Concierge
- Welcome residents, visitors, vendors, and families in a friendly and professional manner.
- Serve as the primary point of contact at the front desk.
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls.
- Monitor the resident call system, front entrance, two-way radios, Wander Guard, and security alarms.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures according to community policies.
- Notify appropriate personnel of emergencies and system malfunctions.
- Conduct facility security rounds and end-of-shift security checks.
- Coordinate resident transportation and appointments.
- Perform resident banking according to established procedures.
- Sort and distribute U.S. mail.
- Maintain office supplies, filing systems, data entry, scheduling, and other administrative duties.
- Assist residents with questions, concerns, and requests while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensure the reception area remains clean, organized, and welcoming.
Life Enrichment & Resident Engagement
- Assist with planning, preparing, and leading daily activities and special events.
- Prepare activity areas before programs and restore areas afterward.
- Encourage resident participation in individual and group activities.
- Assist with transporting residents to and from activities.
- Chaperone community outings and special events.
- Observe resident participation and communicate changes in physical, emotional, cognitive, or behavioral status to nursing staff.
- Adapt activities to meet each resident's abilities and interests.
- Help create a warm, cheerful, and engaging atmosphere throughout the community.
- Assist with seasonal decorating and maintaining organized activity storage areas.
- Maintain activity attendance records and required documentation.
- Assist with activity programming in the absence of the Life Enrichment Supervisor.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One (1) year of experience in customer service, hospitality, concierge, reception, healthcare, senior living, recreation, activities, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, internet, and data entry.
- Social media experience is a plus.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:
Must be able to speak, read, and write English effectively; communicate clearly with residents, families, visitors, and staff; sit, stand, and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift as required throughout the workday.
Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to operate office equipment, computers, telephones, radios, and activity supplies.
Must be able to:
- Lift 1–20 pounds frequently.
- Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
- Push wheelchairs and transport equipment safely.
- Assist residents during emergency situations.
- Frequently reach, bend, and move activity supplies and equipment.
- Occasionally drive community vehicles if assigned.
- Work indoors in both office and resident care environments.
The nature of the work may require exposure to body fluids, infectious materials, and other hazards requiring universal precautions and appropriate personal protective equipment.
