Job Scope
Uses significant independent judgment and familiarity with the field to perform work. May be responsible for the
administration of various moderate and high complexity departmental programs and may lead a group of
employees. May develop policies and procedures and oversee the implementation and execution of them
Position Summary
Facilitate the efficient operation of the Counselor’s office and provide clerical services for the department.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Organize and manage the routine work activities in the counseling department.
2. Perform varied tasks in the preparation of correspondence, forms, reports, etc. for the counselors.
3. Assist in compiling information for preparing various reports for the department.
4. Exercise good telephone etiquette, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
5. Receive, sort, and distribute mail and other documents to other department staff members.
6. Maintain a filing system for the department.
7. Ensure confidentiality with student records.
8. Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job
functions.
9. Ability to interact appropriately with students, parents, and with school staff.
10. Ability to work as a member for a team.
11. Perform such other duties as the Counselor may require.
12. Work under the direction of campus administration.

14. Daily attendance at work and punctuality are essential functions of the job.

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional
accrediting agency)
