Dash Power Partners is seeking a consultant to join Technology Monitoring, Control, and Protection practice as a trusted partner to electric utility industry clients. This individual should bring deep subject-matter expertise across electrical power industry in one or more of the following areas:
· Automation, protection, and control strategy and implementation
· Sensor and system observability strategy and deployment
· Technology testing strategy and implementation
· Reliability & resilience improvements (e.g., impact of IBRs and IBLs, outage and blackout analysis, wild-fire mitigation)
· Protection settings management
· Analytics & artificial intelligence solutions
The role requires technical depth, the ability to frame strategic problems, build client confidence, and deliver recommendations that drive meaningful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage consulting engagements from scoping through final delivery, ensuring high-quality client outcomes on time and within budget
· Develop strategic recommendations on the areas specified above, based on rigorous analysis and utility industry best practices
· Serve as the point of contact for utility clients, building long-term relationships grounded in credibility and trust
· Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis including cost-benefit analysis, risk assessments, and performance benchmarking
· Execute complex projects in close collaboration with the client team
· Mentor and develop junior team members, demonstrating analytical rigor, deep expertise, and effective client communication
· Identify and support business development opportunities, including proposal development, scope definition, and client relationship expansion
· Contribute to internal practice development through thought leadership, whitepapers, and methodology refinement
· Engage in broader industry activities providing leadership
Qualifications:
· 10+ years of experience in the electric utility industry; direct utility engineering, operations or planning experience strongly preferred
· Bachelor degree in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering, or in a related field.
· Deep functional knowledge across the core engagement areas listed above, with a demonstrated track record of outcomes
· Proven ability to manage complex, multi-workstream projects at the utility executive or senior management level
· Understanding of regulatory environments
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical analyses into clear, executive-ready deliverables
· Experience with cost-benefit frameworks, risk-informed decision-making, and capital program prioritization methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master or PhD degree in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering, or in a related field.
· Industry leadership experience, including organizations like CIGRE, IEEE, EEI, etc.
· Direct utility engineering, planning or operational experience
· PE license or equivalent
