Position Overview
Sarah & Co Café, opening in late June, is seeking an energetic and motivated Shift Lead to join our café opening team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of building a new concept from the ground up—one that is rooted in community, connection, and a shared love of great food and welcoming spaces at our 2600 Nine Mile Road location.
As a Shift Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping daily operations, setting service standards, and helping establish the culture of our café from day one. You’ll work closely with leadership and team members to create a smooth, efficient environment while delivering exceptional guest experiences. Responsibilities
- Daily Operations: Oversee day-to-day café operations during your shift, ensuring all team members perform their duties efficiently.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and train staff; provide clear direction and support to uphold high standards of service and food quality.
- Food & Safety Compliance: Manage food prep processes for consistency and freshness; ensure strict compliance with food safety regulations and cleanliness standards.
- POS & Cash Handling: Efficiently operate the Toast POS system for order processing, cash handling, and transaction accuracy.
- Inventory & Waste: Supervise inventory control procedures to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize waste.
- Shift Management: Assist with staff scheduling, monitoring labor costs, and controlling expenses during your shift.
- Guest Relations: Handle customer inquiries or concerns promptly and professionally to ensure a positive dining experience.
- Team Growth: Assist with interviewing potential team members and participating in training and development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen management within a quick-service, fast-food, or casual dining environment.
- Leadership: Demonstrated supervisory or management experience in hospitality or food service settings.
- Tech & Finance: Strong knowledge of the Toast POS system; direct cash handling experience is required.
- Operations: Familiarity with inventory control, food safety standards, and food handling procedures.
- Skills: Excellent customer service, organizational, and training skills with the ability to manage shift responsibilities independently.
- Preferred: A background in hospitality management (including budgeting, staffing, and operational oversight) is highly desirable.
