Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to nursing staff and assist patients in their daily activities, ensuring a high standard of care in a hospital or clinical setting. This role is vital for maintaining patient comfort and safety while adhering to all health regulations and standards, including HIPAA compliance.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
- Administer medications as prescribed under the supervision of nursing staff.
- Provide care for patients with infectious diseases while following strict infection control protocols.
- Assist in phlebotomy procedures when necessary and ensure proper handling of specimens.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Support nursing staff in various tasks within the hospital or teaching hospital environment.
- Educate patients and their families on care plans and health management strategies.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience in a hospital setting or similar healthcare environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of physiology and basic medical terminology.
- Familiarity with eClinicalWorks or similar electronic health record systems is a plus.
- Experience in medication administration is highly desirable.
- Understanding of pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) protocols can be beneficial.
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on patient education and support.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on patient-centered care.
