About Joy of Learning Club
JLC is a multi-age microschool rooted in connection, curiosity, mindfulness, and individualized learning. We blend elements of project-based learning, nature-based education, social-emotional development, and academic excellence to create a learning environment where children feel seen, valued, and inspired.
Our classrooms are intentionally small, allowing teachers to deeply know each child and tailor learning experiences to meet their needs. Class meets Monday - Thursday and runs September through Mid June, with the usual school holiday breaks.
The Role
This educator will primarily support and lead a cohort of approximately six Kindergarten and 1st-grade students while collaborating closely with our teaching team.

● Develop and facilitate creative workshops, projects, and hands-on learning experiences

● Collaborate with Co-teacher

● Support social-emotional development through mindfulness, connection, and relationship-building
● Communicate effectively with families and colleagues
● Adapt and remain flexible in a growing school environment
● Help cultivate and strengthen our school culture and community
Who You Are
You may be our ideal candidate if you:
● Have experience teaching in a classroom, homeschool pod, microschool, forest school, Montessori, Waldorf-inspired, or other alternative learning environment ● Possess strong classroom management skills rooted in connection and respect ● Bring a calm, grounded presence and natural leadership ability
● Have a personal mindfulness, yoga, meditation, or reflective practice ● Are highly self-motivated and proactive
● Enjoy creating meaningful learning experiences rather than following scripted curriculum
● See children as capable, unique individuals
● Are collaborative, flexible, and excited to grow with a young and evolving school ● Believe learning should be joyful, purposeful, and engaging
Qualifications
● Bachelor's Degree required
● California Teaching Credential preferred
● Minimum 5 years teaching experience preferred
● Experience working with multi-age groups and small learning communities strongly preferred
● Strong communication and organizational skills
