Position Summary
True Rock is seeking a DOT Compliance Specialist to support our road and highway
construction operations. This position will oversee the company’s fleet and our drivers.
This role ensures that all company owned and leased commercial vehicles comply with
DOT, IFTA, UCR, and tax regulations. The DOT Compliance Specialist will work closely with
the Logistics Division to maintain full compliance with safety standards and operational
protocols. This position will spend time in the field supporting active construction sites and
in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage DOT processes, including 2290s, IFTA, MC150, and UCR.
- File and renew IRP cab cards.
- File quarterly IFTA fuel taxes.
- Handle citations, including corrections related to drivers, combined weight, and overweight issues.
- Oversee driver qualification files for CDL and Non-CDL drivers.
- Ensure compliance when hauling heavy equipment, oversize/overweight loads, and combined truck/trailer weight limits.
- Coach drivers with unsafe driving habits and assist HR with hiring CDL drivers as needed during onboarding.
- Conduct CDL Orientation and DOT HazMat training to employees.
- Oversee SAP Program and Random Drug Testing schedules
Required Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of DOT regulations, particularly the FMCSRs, including driver hours of service, vehicle maintenance standards, and drug and alcohol testing procedures.
- 4+ years of DOT compliance experience in road, highway, or heavy civil construction
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with field crews
- Ability to travel between multiple job sites and work outdoors in varying conditions
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification or a working knowledge of OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910 & 1926)
- Familiarity with DOT, MUTCD, and work-zone traffic control requirements
- Experience with incident investigations and root-cause analysis
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk uneven terrain and active construction sites
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, or weekends as project schedules require
