The RSM is responsible for assisting in the orderly operation of the Robert L. Johnson Leadership Academy (RLJLA) Summer Institute, a residential week. The RSM will take a leadership role and primarily be responsible for one of the 5 “teams,” made up of high school RLJLA participants. The RSM will accompany the students throughout their daily schedule of coursework, field trips, and small group activities. The RSM will ensure all participants are following program rules and will monitor safety of participants throughout the program and during the overnight hours of the residential week.
Summer Program: Stipend: $2,000.00 + on-campus housing June 25 – July 3, 2026, and all meals during program hours.
Employment Dates: Training: June 25 – 27, 2026. Summer Institute Program: June 25 – July 3, 2026.
Total Hours: 100 program hours + training
Terms of Employment:
Residential Student Mentors will move into the Wabash Residence Hall on Thursday, June 25 for training and preparation. Between Thursday, June 25 and Saturday, June 27, the mentors
will participate in training workshops and prepare for the arrival of the high school students on June 27. The residential portion of the BMLA, where mentors will accompany students throughout their activities and reside in the dorms with their team, is from Saturday, June 27 – Friday, July 3 (student participants and mentors will check out on July 3). Mentors will have a staff breakfast and debriefing on Saturday, July 18.
Employment will be contingent upon:
- Successful completion of all mandatory training and the passing of a background check
- Completion of all University HR requirements for employment.
