Our established physician-owned specialty practice is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and detail-oriented Washington State Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) to join our clinical team. This position is ideal for an experienced medical assistant who enjoys both clinical patient care and surgical coordination in a fast-paced specialty practice.

We are looking for an individual who takes pride in providing outstanding service while helping patients through every stage of their treatment, from initial consultation through surgery and recovery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Room patients and prepare them for examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, and chief complaints.
- Assist physicians during examinations, injections, aspirations, wound care, nail procedures, fracture care, and other office procedures.
- Apply and remove walking boots, braces, splints, compression wraps, postoperative dressings, and other durable medical equipment as directed.
- Perform dressing changes and assist with wound care under provider direction.
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and home care instructions.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Coordinate surgical scheduling with hospitals, anesthesia providers, and patients.
- Prepare and submit surgery scheduling documentation.
- Coordinate preoperative testing, medical clearances, laboratory studies, imaging, and specialty consultations.
- Assist providers during postoperative appointments.
- Remove sutures, staples, casts, splints, and dressings as directed by the provider and within Washington State scope of practice.
- Apply new dressings, braces, casts, boots, or compression devices as indicated.
- Reinforce postoperative instructions and recovery expectations.
- Monitor patient progress and communicate concerns to the provider.
- Coordinate follow-up imaging, physical therapy referrals, and additional postoperative care as directed.
- Process prescription refill requests.
- Coordinate referrals, diagnostic imaging, and specialty consultations.
- Assist with prior authorizations and insurance documentation.
- Maintain stocked, clean, and organized examination rooms.
- Prepare instruments and equipment for procedures.
- Assist with inventory management and supply ordering.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA/WISHA, infection control, and workplace safety regulations.
- Follow all practice policies and clinical protocols.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Participate in mandatory training and continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- Current Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy.
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
Preferred
- Minimum two years of experience in orthopedics, podiatry, foot and ankle, sports medicine, or another surgical specialty.
- Previous surgery scheduling experience.
- Experience coordinating insurance authorizations and medical clearances.
- Experience assisting with postoperative patient care.
- Familiarity with EMR and practice management software.
- Experience with casting, splinting, wound care, and durable medical equipment.

Pay: $27.00 - $29.00 per hour
