A regional defense firm is adding a Workers' Compensation Attorney in North Carolina. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely, with residence ideally in Western North Carolina, while supporting a regional firm known for its strong insurer and employer relationships and hands‑on litigation experience. Responsibilities:
- Support and collaborate with senior attorneys on workers’ compensation defense matters
- Professionally represent employers, insurers, and self‑insured clients
- Manage a caseload with attention to strategy, detail, and client service
- Handle discovery, including document review, written discovery, and coordination of evidence
- Conduct factual investigations and legal research
- Draft pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents
- Prepare and file documents with administrative bodies and courts
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and claims professionals
- Track billable time accurately and assist with billing documentation as needed
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in North Carolina
- 2+ years of relevant experience in workers’ compensation, insurance defense, or employment law
- Prior defense experience strongly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and priorities in a remote setting
- Professional, team‑oriented approach to client service
