The ELL Teacher at Isom Elementary School is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and language support to English Language Learners in grades K–5. This position works to develop students’ English language proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening while supporting access to grade-level academic content. The ELL Teacher collaborates with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to ensure that multilingual learners receive equitable educational opportunities and achieve academic success in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Provide direct instruction to English Language Learners in language acquisition skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Support access to grade-level content through scaffolding, differentiation, and instructional accommodations.

Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement strategies that support ELL students in general education settings.

Assess student language proficiency and academic progress using formal and informal assessments.

Maintain accurate records of student progress, services, and compliance documentation as required.

Develop and implement individualized or small-group instructional plans based on student language needs.

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, services, and language development.

Support culturally responsive teaching practices that value students’ linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Participate in student support team meetings, PLCs, and professional development opportunities.

Assist with identification, placement, and monitoring of English Language Learners in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district ELL/Title III requirements.

Collaborate with staff to support equitable access to curriculum and school programs.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

Valid Indiana teaching license with ELL/ENL endorsement required or eligibility to obtain endorsement.
