Duties
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation throughout all food handling processes
- Plan and develop menu items that reflect authentic flavors while catering to guest preferences
- Source fresh ingredients and manage inventory to ensure quality and freshness in every dish
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service
- Demonstrate expert knife skills for slicing fish, vegetables, and other ingredients efficiently
- Uphold cleanliness standards in the sushi station and assist with general kitchen duties as needed
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant or fine dining setting
- Strong knowledge of food handling, safety procedures, and sanitation regulations
- Expertise in sushi preparation techniques, including fish filleting, rice cooking, and presentation skills
- Experience with menu planning, food preparation, and catering services is highly desirable
- Excellent knife skills combined with a keen eye for detail in food presentation
- Background in the food industry with relevant culinary experience in Japanese cuisine or related fields
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency
- Strong communication skills and team-oriented attitude to foster a positive kitchen environment
