REGISTERED BEHAVIOR TECHNICIAN
Objective and Job Summary:
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct behavioral and social-emotional support services to students exhibiting behavioral, developmental, or emotional challenges. The RBT implements individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), collects and analyzes behavior data, and collaborates with educators to reinforce trauma-informed, positive, and restorative practices across Scholarship Prep campuses. This position is key to ensuring that all students experience safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments consistent with Scholarship Prep’s mission to prepare every scholar for success in college and life.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Behavior Intervention and Student Support
- Implement individualized behavior treatment programs.
- Collect, record, and graph accurate data on student behaviors and skill acquisition.
- Support students in developing replacement behaviors, self-regulation, and coping strategies consistent with PBIS and restorative frameworks.
- Utilize CPI-aligned crisis-prevention and de-escalation techniques; participate in physical intervention only as a last resort and in compliance with SP policy and training.
- Maintain detailed session notes and submit service documentation as required.
- Participate in Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) data collection and assist in the development and fidelity monitoring of BIPs.
Collaboration and Training
- Work collaboratively with SP special education leadership, BCBAs, psychologists, teachers, and related-service providers to ensure coordinated behavioral supports.
- Model and coach appropriate behavioral strategies for classroom staff, as directed.
- Attend supervision sessions, professional development, and RBT team meetings to maintain credentialing and skill proficiency.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with staff and families while maintaining confidentiality and cultural responsiveness.
Instructional and Environmental Support
- Reinforce academic, social, and adaptive skills in classroom and non-classroom settings.
- Assist in creating or adapting visual supports, token systems, and reinforcement materials.
- Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other unstructured periods to promote safe, positive interactions.
- Support implementation of campus-wide PBIS systems and restorative practices.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to Scholarship Prep’s mission and values of equity, excellence, and community.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
- Experience providing behavioral support to children or adolescents preferred.
- Demonstrated success in working with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working in school settings preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Physical Abilities:
Frequent sitting, standing, or walking much of the time with some bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and climbing stairs. Frequently lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment:
This position works in a variety of settings including indoor, outdoor work environments. May experience seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions well as odors, dust, moderate noise level.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
