Position Description:
The Graphic Design and Marketing Assistant will:
- Create graphic communications for printed materials, email newsletters, and digital, online graphics. This will include events flyers, direct mail pieces, website and social media graphics, posters, and other marketing, promotional, and outreach materials as needed.
- Support managers and program coordinators with the creation of flyers and digital graphics to promote both recurring and special events
- Collaborate with Development & Outreach Manager and Director of Development to support outreach and fundraising campaigns through engaging design solutions
- Collaborate with Development and Outreach Manager and other staff to provide best practices recommendations for the creation and documentation of branded design elements and materials, including updating brand guidelines and elements
- Collaborate with Development Director and program staff to update Canva templates to be used by program staff for program activities, including determining changeable and non changeable elements
- Design mini-campaigns for multiple events that include digital and non-digital elements
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and/or other common design and layout applications (ie. Canva)
- Attention to detail and creativity
- Strong interpersonal skills with clear communication and professionalism
- Commitment to helping the most vulnerable in our society and track record of challenging existing systems of privilege and injustice
- Preferred: familiarity with Wordpress and other social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
Support / Supervision:
The student will meet weekly with Haley House's Director of Development to review projects, set priorities, receive design feedback, and build professional skills through one-on-one mentorship.
Expected Work Hours per Week:
- 6-8 hours
- This position is expected to be hybrid, with some in-person work and some virtual work. Arrangements can be made to create the best workflow for both the student and the Haley House team.
Work Schedule:
Once a schedule is established between the student and Haley House, the student will be expected to work a consistent schedule week-to-week. Tues, Wed, and Thurs are the preferred work days for the student during standard work hours 9am-5pm (preferred) that said, Haley House is flexible and will accommodate the student's availability.
Wage:
$15 / hour
PLEASE NOTE:
This position is part of the PartnershipWORKS program offered through MassArt's Center for Art and Community Partnerships (CACP). If you are hired for this position, you will become a member of the team at your community site AND a member of the CACP student cohort. You will have two supervisors, one through your host site and a second through CACP..
The requirements for holding a PartnershipWORKS position through CACP are:
- Commit to your position for the entire academic year (fall + spring semesters)
- Participate in monthly PartnershipWORKS sessions throughout the year, facilitated by CACP staff
- Complete time sheets in a timely manner, every two weeks
- Provide photo documentation of your work at your host site
- Thoughtful completion of all CACP evaluations
- Maintain communication with CACP staff regarding any challenges and/or successes related to your experience at your host site
