We are seeking Full-Time Temporary Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join the Treatment Department at one of the DOCR adult correctional facilities:

Heart River Correctional Center (HRCC)
- James River Correctional Center (JRCC)
- Missouri River Correctional Center (MRCC)
- North Dakota State Penitentiary (NDSP)
This apprenticeship opportunity is designed to provide hands-on experience in behavioral health and substance use services while supporting educational and professional growth. Employees work alongside experienced behavioral health professionals within a correctional treatment environment while developing practical skills in resident engagement, behavioral support, documentation, and treatment services.
As employees gain knowledge, skills, and experience, they will progress through the three levels of the Behavioral Health Technician role with increasing responsibility and independence.
Behavioral Health Technician I

Entry-level position focused on direct resident engagement, emotional support, and routine assistance to the behavioral health team. Employees work under close supervision and follow structured guidance and direction.
Behavioral Health Technician II
-
Intermediate-level position responsible for providing structured behavioral support, assisting with behavior plans, and completing certain documentation tasks under regular supervision while exercising some independent judgment.
Behavioral Health Technician III
-
Advanced-level position functioning as an extension of the behavioral health team. Employees may assist with structured assessments, co-facilitate groups, and complete documentation tasks with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
- Currently enrolled, or willing to enroll at the University of Jamestown in a degree program related to a licensable helping profession such as:
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to successfully complete a background check, criminal record check, and drug screening
