This role is responsible for ensuring efficient patient flow, maintaining a clean and compliant clinical environment, managing electronic health records, and delivering exceptional, empathetic patient care.
Clinical Duties & Patient Care

- Medical Histories: Interview patients to precisely document chief complaints, medical histories, immunizations, current medications, and allergies in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Provider Assistance: Assist physicians and mid-level providers during examinations, routine primary care, and complex or minor medical/surgical procedures. Prepare rooms/procedures according to physician preference and establish/maintain a sterile field.
- Lab & Diagnostic Support: Collect, prepare, and process laboratory specimens (including blood, phlebotomy, and urine samples). Perform rapid diagnostic testing (e.g., COVID-19, flu, strep) and routine screenings.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform minor medical interventions such as dressing changes, giving injections, and administering medications as directed by providers. Remove staples, sutures, and drains when requested.
- Patient Education: Educate and provide clear instructions to patients and families regarding treatment procedures, medications, follow-up care, preventive health, and other provider directions.
- Results & Prescription Management: Review medical tests/results for abnormalities, immediately notify providers, and file them in the EHR. Process prescription refills via eRX as instructed, providing info to pharmacies and accurately logging records.
Operations, Administrative & EHR Management
- EHR Documentation: Maintain meticulous, complete, clear, and up-to-date documentation of all clinical charting, laboratory results, medications, and patient interactions within the EHR system.
- Workflow & Communication: Monitor and coordinate patient flow between waiting areas and exam rooms to minimize wait times for scheduled and same-day visits. Efficiently direct phone calls, take accurate messages, and ensure prompt follow-up on phone inquiries.
- Environment & Supply Chain: Maintain pristine cleanliness in examination treatment rooms and lab areas. Organize, sanitize, stock, and manage medical inventory, ensuring all supplies are within their expiration dates.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean and sterilize medical equipment, ensuring all tools are in proper working order through responsible inspection.
- Cross-Functional Support: Assist the front desk team with phone inquiries, scheduling, or patient check-ins during peak hours as needed.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to organizational quality control, infection control standards, OSHA, and CLIA safety protocols.
