The Applications Test Coordinator is a hands-on role responsible for planning, coordinating, conducting and documenting food product testing activities. This position plays a key role in sample preparation, equipment operation, real-time data collection and accurate documentation for customer trials and internal development projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule product application testing, trials, and evaluations within the R&D department.
- Prepare ingredients, formulations, equipment, and materials required for testing activities.
- Conduct food application testing according to established procedures, specifications, and test protocols.
- Collect, record, and maintain accurate testing data, observations, and results.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing test findings, recommendations, and conclusions.
- Prepare, label and organize test samples in accordance with approved protocols.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain laboratory, test kitchen, and application equipment in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Verify sample identification, quantities, and condition prior to testing.
- Set up, operate and monitor R&D testing equipment, including:
- Spiral and tunnel freezers.
- Chillers and preparation equipment.
- Temperature probs and data loggers.
- Follow documented start-up, operation and shutdown procedures.
- Monitor tests in real time and report deviations promptly.
- Accurately record test data, including:
- Infeed and discharge temperatures
- Test and dwell times
- Product weights and dimensions
- Environmental or operational observations
- Complete required documentation in real time.
- Photograph test setups and configurations as required.
- Upload and organize documentation for clients.
- Performing other tasks as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field preferred.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
- Technical, food science, or manufacturing training preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments.
- Ability to work in laboratory, test kitchen, pilot plant, and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to safely operate food processing and testing equipment.
- Manual dexterity to handle probes, instruments, and small components.
- Proper use of required PPE at all times is required.
- Full-time schedule; hours may vary based on testing needs.
- Overtime or extended hours may be required during customer trials.
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
