POSITION SUMMARY
Hauling materials from one place to another is the main job of a dump truck driver. You must follow a schedule for pickups and deliveries of materials. You required to verify the types of materials you’re hauling as well as their weight. If you are working in conjunction with other equipment operators and truck drivers, you must clearly communicate with them to make sure materials are delivered according to the job specifications and timetables. You are expected to keep your truck clean and in good working order.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Dump Truck experience required.
- All endorsements preferred, but not required.
- Drives truck equipped with dump body to transport and dump loose materials, such as dirt, sand, gravel, crushed rock, asphalt, etc. Pulls levers or turns crank to tilt body and dump contents.
- Verifies the types of items and that are hauled along with their weight.
- Keeps a record of the type of material and number of loads that are hauled and submits these tickets to the project coordinator.
- Communicates clearly with the foremen and superintendents in order to make the delivery of materials in accordance with timetables and specifications.
- Keeps the truck tidy and clean by cleaning it regularly.
- Maintains a proper driving record.
- Stays familiar with safety regulations in order to maintain all rules and regulations.
- Must be a prompt employee in order to stay within the bounds of timetable and complete the job on time.
