MA Position Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years experience
- Advanced skills on Electronic Medical Records
- Advanced Computer Skills
- Scribe experience and/or advanced typing and terminology to learn
- Compassionate Patient Skills & Customer Service
- Strong Medical Terminology and Anatomy knowledge base

- Certified Medial Assistant a plus
- Surgery scheduling experience to include knowledge of insurances
- Experience obtaining authorizations
- Ability to coordinate care with outside facilities
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus but not required
- Experience in orthopedics a big plus!
- Experience using AthenaHealth immediate interview*
Daily Duties: full intake and vitals of patients, proper documentation in EMR, enter all orders electronically (prescriptions, imaging, referrals, etc), brace fitting and application, all DME dispensing and education, cast removal, prep and assist injections with physician, operation of portable ultrasound, wound care, suture/staple removal.
Surgery Scheduling includes:
- Schedule orthopedic surgical procedures in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and outpatient facilities.
- Coordinate surgery dates and times with surgeons, patients, operating room staff, anesthesia providers, and facility schedulers.
- Obtain and verify insurance authorizations and referrals for surgical procedures.
- Review and ensure completion of all required pre-operative testing, medical clearances, imaging, and laboratory work.
- Educate patients regarding surgical preparation, scheduling timelines, pre-operative instructions, and post-operative appointments.
- Maintain accurate surgery schedules and update changes promptly.
- Prepare and submit surgical scheduling paperwork and physician orders according to facility requirements.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding procedure details, financial obligations, and insurance requirements.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and surgical consent documentation.
- Coordinate durable medical equipment (DME), rehabilitation services, and post-operative care arrangements as needed.
- Work closely with clinical staff to resolve scheduling conflicts and ensure efficient operating room utilization.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.
- Document all patient communications and scheduling activities in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

This is a full time position with full benefits after 90 day introductory period that includes paid medical, dental and vision. 10 days of sick and 10 days of vacation PTO and a 401k profit sharing plan after 6 months of employment with a 3% contribution from owners.
