Helix Healthcare Inc., is looking for multiple direct support professionals to join our team. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, motivated, and reliable. Must have experience supporting individuals with disabilities.
The Personal Support Professional (PSP) provides direct, person‑centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in home, community, and residential settings. This role focuses on promoting independence, dignity, safety, and meaningful engagement while assisting individuals with daily living tasks, community integration, and individualized support plans.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvide Direct Care & Daily Living Support
- Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
- Support meal preparation, feeding, and adherence to dietary plans.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment.
Implement Individual Plans (IP/ISP)
- Follow all goals, interventions, and support strategies outlined in the Individual Plan.
- Document progress, behaviors, incidents, and daily activities accurately and timely.
- Encourage skill development, independence, and self‑advocacy.
Community Engagement & Social Support
- Accompany individuals to appointments, activities, and community outings.
- Promote socialization, recreation, and participation in community life.
- Support individuals in accessing transportation and navigating public spaces safely.
Health & Safety Monitoring
- Administer medications (if certified) and follow all medication administration protocols.
- Observe and report changes in health, behavior, or condition.
- Follow all emergency procedures, safety protocols, and agency policies.
Professionalism & Communication
- Maintain respectful, trauma‑informed interactions with individuals and families.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and external providers.
- Uphold confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (if transporting individuals).
- Ability to pass all background checks required by state regulations.
- CPR/First Aid, Medication Technician (CMT), and other certifications preferred or required based on program.
- Experience working with individuals with IDD or in human services strongly preferred.
Work Expectations
- Ability to work in residential, community, and office environments
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and participate in 24-hour on-call duties.
- Consistent presence in assigned programs to ensure oversight and support

- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Work may occur in private homes, residential programs, or community settings.
- Requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or on‑call shifts depending on program needs.
- May involve exposure to behavioral challenges and physical assistance tasks.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical assistance tasks.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
