Position: Saw Filer Lead

Job Summary:
The Saw Filer Lead is responsible for maintaining and repairing distinct types of saws, including circular saws, band saws, and handsaws. They play a crucial role in ensuring that saws run efficiently, meet safety standards, and contribute to the smooth functioning of a sawmill.
Responsibilities:

Lead a team of saw filers and guidance on proper saw maintenance, repair techniques, and safety protocols.

Sharpening saws by hand or using specialized machines, adjusting teeth for accurate cuts, and repairing broken saw blades through welding or brazing.

Testing saws to ensure proper functionality and safety, replacing dull or damaged blades, and maintaining overall saw quality.

Ensuring all saw-filing equipment is well-maintained, calibrated, and safe for use.

Providing recommendations for saw maintenance, repair, and upgrades. Reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.

Working closely with other departments to optimize saw performance and minimize downtime.

Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and blade replacements.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a Saw Filer or in a similar position.

Familiarity with several types of saws and their applications.

Ability to use and maintain saw-filing equipment safely and effectively.

Strong mechanical and technical skills.

Precision and accuracy in blade adjustments and repairs.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
