Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Facility Operator to oversee the daily operations of water treatment and wastewater systems within a dynamic utility environment. This role involves managing complex equipment, ensuring environmental compliance, and maintaining safety standards. As a Facility Operator, you will play a vital part in delivering clean water and effective wastewater management, contributing to community health and environmental sustainability. Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor water treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, and control systems such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants, water systems, and associated heavy equipment to prevent downtime and ensure safety compliance.
- Collect data on system performance, analyze trends, and generate reports to support operational decision-making and regulatory reporting.
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on industrial pumps, water treatment machinery, plumbing fixtures, and other mechanical components.
- Manage the operation of heavy equipment used in construction or maintenance activities while adhering to safety regulations and PPE requirements.
- Assist with the inspection, cleaning, and calibration of water treatment processes to meet environmental standards.
- Maintain detailed records of operations, maintenance activities, safety checks, and compliance documentation in accordance with environmental regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with wastewater treatment plants or water utility distribution systems; familiarity with wastewater systems is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience operating pumps, valves, plumbing systems, and water treatment equipment.
- Ability to operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) for process automation.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance standards related to water treatment and wastewater management.
- Skilled in data collection, analysis, basic math calculations, and report generation for operational insights.
- Experience working in the energy & utilities sector or similar industrial environments is preferred.
- Capable of heavy lifting, heavy equipment operation, construction activities, or maintenance tasks as needed.
- Familiarity with safety regulations including PPE use and hazard mitigation practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to perform analysis on complex systems.
- Good communication skills for team collaboration and documentation purposes.
