The Clerk Accounting position for the WIC Department at Montefiore Medical Group involves performing various financial and administrative tasks to support the program's daily operations. Responsibilities include processing financial transactions related to WIC benefits, maintaining accurate participant financial records, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and assisting in budget tracking for the department. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential participant and financial information. This position plays a critical role in ensuring efficient financial operations within the WIC program and adherence to state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Performs financial record-keeping and complex clerical duties related to WIC program funding and participant benefits.
- Maintains financial records or accounts using spreadsheet software systems or mainframe databases. Audits and enters data for accuracy and completeness. Prepares routine financial reports.
- Processes financial transactions related to WIC benefits, ensuring compliance with New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) regulations and grant requirements.
- Monitors and reconciles financial reports, identifying discrepancies and working with program administrators to resolve issues.
- Assists in the preparation of grant reports and budget tracking to support continued program funding.
- Maintains department's file system, ensuring proper documentation of financial transactions and compliance with auditing requirements.
- Collaborates with program coordinators to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of participant benefits and eligibility.
- Provides financial support to WIC staff, assisting in the processing of eWIC benefits and ensuring timely and accurate distribution to participants.

Monday to Friday 0830A – 0500P
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required, BA preferred.
Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek.
