Certified Medical Assistant Floater – Pain Management Clinic
Florida Medical Pain Management LLC is seeking a dependable and experienced Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Floater to support our Pain Management clinics in Spring Hill and New Port Richey, Florida. The Floater will provide clinical and administrative support across assigned locations and may assist with Medical Assistant, Pre-Operative, and Front Office functions based on operational needs.
Position Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant Floater supports providers and clinical staff in delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. This position requires flexibility to work between the Spring Hill and New Port Richey offices and the ability to perform a variety of clinical and administrative responsibilities.
Clinical Medical Assistant Responsibilities
· Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including obtaining vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation.
· Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and patient care.
· Perform clinical duties within the employee’s education, training, certification, and scope of practice.
· Assist with injections, EKGs, specimen collection, and other clinical procedures as assigned.
· Maintain examination and treatment rooms in a clean, organized, and properly stocked condition.
· Document patient information accurately and timely in the EMR.
· Follow infection prevention, safety, HIPAA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
· Assist with patient flow and provide appropriate patient education and instructions.
· Communicate effectively with providers, clinical staff, patients, and other members of the healthcare team.
Pre-Operative Support Responsibilities
When assigned to pre-operative duties, the Medical Assistant will:
· Obtain and document pre-operative vital signs and medical and surgical history.
· Verify patient identity, procedure information, and required documentation.
· Verify that required consents, laboratory results, medical clearances, and other pre-procedure requirements are available and complete.
· Assist with preparation for procedures within the employee’s scope of practice and training.
· Assist with laboratory specimen collection and other clinical duties as assigned.
· Communicate patient information and concerns promptly to the appropriate provider, nurse, anesthesia professional, or surgical team member.
· Provide patients and families with approved pre-procedure instructions and education.
· Maintain compliance with applicable AAAHC, AHCA, OSHA, infection prevention, and facility policies and procedures.
Front Office / Patient Services Support
As needed, the Floater may provide front office support, including:
· Greet patients and visitors professionally and courteously.
· Schedule and confirm appointments.
· Assist with provider scheduling and patient flow.
· Verify insurance eligibility and assist with authorization requirements.
· Collect co-pays, balances, and other patient payments according to office procedures.
· Maintain accurate patient demographic and insurance information in the EMR.
· Answer incoming calls and route messages appropriately.
· Protect patient privacy and maintain compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
· Provide professional and courteous customer service.
Required Qualifications
· Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
· Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.
· Proof of graduation from an appropriately accredited Medical Assistant program.
· Current, valid professional certification.
· Minimum of one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience within the past three (3) years, preferably in an outpatient clinic, pain management, surgical, or acute-care setting.
· Interventional Pain Management experience required.
· Strong understanding of clinical workflows, patient safety, and infection prevention practices.
· Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
· Ability and willingness to float between the Spring Hill and New Port Richey locations based on operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in an ambulatory surgery or procedural setting.
· Experience with Greenway Intergy and CareTracker.
· Knowledge of insurance verification, authorizations, and medical office workflows.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
· Previous experience assisting with pre-operative or procedural patient preparation.
· ACLS certification is preferred for staff whose assigned responsibilities require it.
Education
· Completion of an appropriately accredited Medical Assistant program.
· Current CMA certification.
· Current BLS certification.
· Additional education, training, and certifications applicable to the position are preferred.
Experience
· Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant within the last three (3) years, preferably in a clinic, outpatient, surgical, pain management, or acute-care setting.
· Interventional Pain Management experience is required.
