Assists the production supervisor in managing the day-to-day operations of the fertilizer/ice melt packaging facility. Monitors the employees’ work, quality, and production to ensure products are manufactured efficiently and safely. Concentrates on coaching employees to perform their duties to the best of their ability and sets an example as an exemplary employee.
Active involvement in the selection, training, and documentation of employee performance and attendance on the job. Ensures that the company’s Safety, Quality, and Production goals are achieved by training, coaching, and leading employees, and continuously evaluating and updating these processes and procedures. Provides input on developing quality control objectives and coordinates these objectives with production procedures, in cooperation with plant production personnel, to maximize product quality and minimize costs. Assists with other duties as deemed necessary to meet the company's goals.
Requirements: Education & Experience

Experience in a manufacturing environment

Experience and/or knowledge related to managing production operations preferred

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Fill in for chemical handlers, material handlers, pipe cleanout techs, and forklifts as needed

Coaches new employees in the proper operation of plant equipment

Assists production employees in understanding and following process procedures

Performs the duties of production lead when needed

Coaches and supports the workers engaged in the fertilizer and Ice Melt plant processes, emphasizing the Plant.

Assists the shift supervisor/Lead, applying company policies, programs, rules, regulations, and safety rules in support of achieving departmental, plant, and corporate goals for safety, quality, and productivity

Assist plant employees in continuous improvement activities

Develop, direct, and manage manufacturing personnel and train them to utilize all equipment and tools properly

Assist manufacturing personnel in maintaining product quality and meeting customer requirements and expectations. Evaluate processes/procedures at this facility and provide recommendations for improvement

Recommends improvements of facilities, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency

Support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the company's Quality Policy, Quality System & the appropriate regulations for the area

The Production Lead Assistant supports the daily operations of the fertilizer and ice-melt packaging facility by overseeing production employees, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and maintaining an efficient workflow throughout the plant. This hands-on leadership role involves employee training, coaching, and performance management, as well as operating equipment and filling in for various production positions as needed. The ideal candidate has manufacturing experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to promote a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This position works closely with the Shift Supervisor to achieve production goals and support the plant's overall success.
