Full-Time Optometric Technician Needed for a Growing Private Optometry Practice in Brownsburg, Indiana

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, patient-focused Optometric Technician to join our growing eye care team. In this role, you will be the clinical backbone of our practice, working directly with patients to perform preliminary testing, gather medical histories, and ensure a seamless, high-quality care experience. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, a welcoming demeanor, and a strong interest in healthcare.
Job Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Welcome patients and guide them through the pre-examination process.
- Gather medical histories, chief complaints, and current medications.
- Perform preliminary testing including visual acuity, auto-refraction, and eye pressure.
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as retinal cameras and visual field analyzers.
- Administer eye drops and diagnostic medications under doctor supervision.
- Sanitize exam rooms and equipment between patient appointments.
Patient Education & Care
- Train patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and hygiene.
- Answer patient questions regarding preliminary test results and next steps.
- Assist the optometrist during specialized contact lens fittings.
Administration & Operations
- Document findings accurately within the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
- Manage clinic flow to maintain on-time scheduling for the doctors.
- Order and manage inventory for contact lenses and clinical supplies.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework is a plus.
- Experience: 1+ years in an eye care or medical environment preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with medical software, typing, and basic computer office tools.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills, empathy, and a professional appearance.
- Detail-Oriented: High accuracy in recording data and medical notes.
Hours
This is a part or full time position working 40 hours per week. Hours are the following:
- Monday’s 9:00am to 5:00pm
- Tuesday’s 9:00am to 6:00pm
- Wednesday's 9:00am to 6:00pm
- Thursday's 12:00pm - 5:00pm
- Friday's 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Saturdays, only one per month 9:00am to 12:00pm
