Job Summary
The Specialist I is responsible for accurately registering patients and obtaining all necessary demographic, insurance, and financial information to support patient care and reimbursement activities. This position serves as a primary point of contact for patients and families while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and patient identification standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Interview patients in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner to obtain complete and accurate demographic, insurance, and financial information.

Assess each patient’s ability to complete the registration process and notify clinical staff when immediate medical attention is required.

Verify patient identification and demographic information using established procedures.

Utilize payor systems to obtain insurance eligibility and authorization information.

Identify patients with non-participating insurance plans and coordinate resolution with appropriate staff and physicians.

Prepare required forms, documentation, labels, and identification bands.

Maintain current knowledge of government and third-party payor requirements and registration processes.

Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

One (1) year experience in customer service or healthcare registration.

Demonstrated verbal communication skills.

Strong guest services and customer relations skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Previous healthcare registration experience.

Experience with insurance verification systems.
