Radius Recycling is hiring a Burner (Torch Operator) to safely cut and prepare scrap metal using a cutting torch. This role is best suited for someone with torching experience or a strong willingness to learn in a hands-on, outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Use a cutting torch to size and prepare scrap metal to company standards
- Inspect materials and cut oversized or non-conforming scrap
- Safely operate torching equipment, including regulators, hoses, and oxygen tools
- Maintain a safe work area and follow all fire prevention practices
- Identify equipment issues and report them to supervisors
- Follow all safety, health, and environmental guidelines at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Torch cutting experience preferred (will train the right candidate)
- Ability to safely wear a respirator and other PPE
- Dependable with good attendance
- Valid driver’s license required
Work Environment
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Exposure to heat, sparks, noise, and heavy equipment
- Safety gear required at all times
