The Workforce Development Specialist 1/2/3 plays a key role in delivering comprehensive employment services to job seekers and employers. This position is responsible for providing job search assistance, job referrals, and placement support to job seekers, offering re-employment services to unemployment insurance claimants, and conducting recruitment services for employers with job openings.
The Office of Workforce Development (OWD) is a key division of Louisiana Works managing programs in workforce training, job placement, apprenticeships, and business engagement. Through collaboration with local boards, educational institutions, and industry partners, OWD aims to improve economic mobility for job seekers and ensure Louisiana employers have the skilled talent they need, contributing to the state’s economic growth.

Three years of experience in workforce development, administrative services, or social services; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:

Carry out intensive services under this chapter to meet the employment needs of eligible veterans determined to have a Significant Barrier to Employment (SBE).

Use case management as a service delivery strategy or framework within which intensive services are delivered, when the veteran has defined barriers to employment that he/she cannot overcome with their own resources or abilities, or when extensive follow up will be required.

Conduct outreach activities from the one stop center to newly enrolled veterans as dictated by current program requirements and at a variety of sites.

Create and publish activity reports as required.

Drive/operate the mobile workforce center (MWC) to scheduled events and provide professional program related support services.

Perform other duties as assigned, including 25% travel as required.
