MedOp Solutions is seeking experienced Cardiac Step-Down Registered Nurses for a 13-week travel assignment at a premier cardiovascular program in Indianapolis, Indiana. This position offers the opportunity to care for high-acuity cardiothoracic patients recovering from complex surgical procedures while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team dedicated to exceptional cardiac care.
The ideal candidate has recent Step-Down, Progressive Care, or Cardiovascular nursing experience and is comfortable caring for patients recovering from advanced cardiac and thoracic surgeries.

- Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) patients
- Peripheral Vascular Surgery (Leg Bypass)
- Rib Resections
- Pneumonectomy patients
- Complex cardiothoracic surgical recoveries
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for post-operative cardiothoracic patients
- Perform ongoing cardiac and respiratory assessments
- Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in patient condition
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
- Manage post-operative drains, chest tubes, and specialized cardiac equipment as appropriate
- Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Educate patients and families regarding recovery, medications, and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
- Active Registered Nurse license
- Recent Step-Down, Progressive Care, Telemetry, or Cardiovascular nursing experience preferred
- Experience caring for post-operative cardiac surgery patients strongly preferred
- Strong cardiac assessment and telemetry interpretation skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring systems
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Standard cardiac step-down monitoring equipment
- Department-specific orientation provided prior to independent assignment
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend rotation based on department needs
- No on-call requirements
- Holiday coverage as scheduled by the department
